From the Marine Corps to Law Enforcement
Andrew is a former United States Marine and a former Law Enforcement Officer. Both careers demand the same things that great dog training requires: structure, consistency, composure under pressure, and clear communication. That background shapes how Andrew approaches every dog — calm, methodical, and focused on building reliable behavior rather than quick fixes.
Formally Trained at Tarheel Canine
After leaving law enforcement, Andrew pursued his passion for dogs formally, attending the prestigious Tarheel Canine School for Dog Trainers — one of North Carolina’s most respected professional training programs, known for producing trainers who work with everything from family pets to police and working dogs. That education gives Andrew a depth of knowledge that spans the full spectrum of canine training.
A Balanced Training Philosophy
Andrew’s method is a balanced approach built on three pillars: positive reinforcement to reward and encourage the behaviors you want, concise communication so your dog clearly understands what’s being asked, and fair, appropriate correction when needed. Rather than a one-size-fits-all system, he reads the individual needs and temperament of each dog — addressing behavior issues while strengthening the bond between dog and owner.
From Pet Dogs to Working Dogs
Andrew’s capabilities range from everyday pet obedience all the way to advanced working-dog work. A lifelong animal lover, he spends his own time training his personal working dogs and is preparing to compete in PSA (Protection Sport Association) events — a high level of the sport that reflects the standard he holds himself to. That same expertise is available to Raleigh-area clients through our working dog training programs.
